Dr. Stanley Matthews, DDS, MS
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Stanley Matthews is a dedicated oral and maxillofacial surgeon committed to delivering excellence in patient care and community service. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in 2007. His academic background also includes a Master of Science in Medical Science from Hampton University, with a focus on immunology, virology, and pathology; a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Coppin State University; and a second Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Therapy with a concentration in Sports Medicine from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where his passion for surgery was first ignited and continually renewed.
Following dental school, Dr. Matthews completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery internship, which strengthened his clinical skills and prepared him for a rigorous residency program at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During his time at Woodhull, he served as chief resident in his final year and received multiple accolades for his leadership and clinical excellence. He also authored several scholarly articles published in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America.
Driven by a deep sense of service, Dr. Matthews remains actively involved in education and mentorship. He currently serves as a volunteer attending surgeon at Woodhull Medical Center, where he shares his expertise through hands-on surgical training and lectures to residents.
Beyond his local attributions, Dr. Matthews is equally passionate about global outreach. He travels frequently to Jamaica and the Dominican Republic with Medical Missions teams, delivering essential oral surgery and complex medical care to underserved communities.
A proud Maryland native, Dr. Matthews is committed to inspiring the next generation. He frequently speaks at local middle and high schools, encouraging students to pursue their goals and realize their full potential.
